18 Dec 28 DAY CHALLENGE: “END OF WEEK THREE”
Councillor Alison Griffiths is fast approaching the end of the 28-Day challenge. She has done amazing so far. Alison used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day, which works out at about £10 per day!!
I have saved £240, which is amazing. I can use the money elsewhere now, on holiday, food for the kids. I may as well have been wrapping up £10 notes and burning them before.”
Although Alison has smoked 3 cigarettes, she is still happy with her achievements (and so she should be). Looking back, she has not smoked over 300 cigarettes. Alison is still determined and is going to restart the challenge next month.
Anyone out there who has done 24 days without one cigarette, I say hats off to you
The 28-Day Challenge is not an easy one. However, with the support of the 28 Days Team at One You Surrey, you’d be four times more likely to succeed.
I was tired, I was ratty, and I just wanted a cigarette. I couldn’t see the benefit in not smoking, which seems ridiculous now!
We have our blips, but we are all human after all!
Quitting smoking is not easy and can take up to seven times to successfully quit for good. It’s important to focus on why you’re trying to quit in the first place and not give up.Greg,

Alternative Therapies for Smoking Cessation
Here at One You Surrey we only prescribe Nicotine Replacement Therapy (such as patches and gum) or Pill-Form pharmacotherapies such as Champix (what Alison is using) and Zyban.
I had a look for homeopathic remedies… I found acupuncture and hypnosis… It’ll be really interesting to explore other remedies that might help me in the future.
We are aware that there are other smoking cessation methods out there. However, we use methods that have strong scientific support and are more consistent across a general population. If one of our service users wanted to seek alternative methods, we would be fully supportive of their choices.
Afterall, whatever helps someone quit for good, we are supportive of!
Vaping has helped me. It’s something to reach for and has stopped me reaching for a packet of cigarettes
Vaping is a heavily debated topic, but it is reported to be 95% less harmful than smoking. It’s important to note that although it is a less harmful alternative, we would not recommend it to anybody who doesn’t smoke.
If you smoke, vape instead. If you don’t smoke, don’t vape!
